Frock, undress, other ranks’, Assam Valley Light Horse, 1935 (c). Blue serge. Upright collar lined with black Italian cloth and originally bearing two collar badges (one now absent). Pointed cuffs, each bearing two buttons. Shoulder straps bear hooks for attaching shoulder chains (now absent). Body lined with black Italian cloth, sleeves lined with white, yellow and blue cotton. White mother of pearl collar button. White metal front, pocket and cuff buttons with die struck design of the regimental cypher ‘AVLH’ surmounted by a monarchial crown, with a scroll below all bearing the regimental motto ‘SEMPER PARATOS’ (ever ready). White metal collar badge with die cast design of the regimental cypher ‘AVLH’ surmounted by a monarchial crown, with a scroll below all bearing a regimental motto ‘NON SIBI SED PATRIAE’ (not for itself but for the fatherland).
