Original telex message from Maj Gen Sir Jeremy Moore to London announcing the victory over Argentina and the recapture of the Falkland Islands, 15 Jun 1982. Signed by Maj Gen Sir Jeremy Moore, Margaret Thatcher, Sir Rex Hunt (governor of the Falklands at the time of the invasion) and Sir Julian Thompson (commander of 3 Commando Brigade). Associated with South Atlantic (Falklands War) (1982). The signal is based in part on a similar surrender signal sent to Winston Churchill by FM Montgomery from North West Europe in May 1945. It was donated by Margaret Thatcher to a charity auction at the ball in 1999 launching the British Forces Foundation, where its buyer had it signed by Thatcher, Hunt and Thompson.
