Description

Remembrance. Artwork created by Anna Redwood reflecting on remembrance amongst soldiers, 2014. The piece takes the form of a framed triptych. The two outer sections reveal the notes of a World War One padre and a contemporary padre serving in Afghanistan. By comparing the two, the artist sought to make the point about the significance and similarity of combat and conflict experiences on the lives of serving soldiers from any time or place. Associated with World War One (1914-1918) and Operation HERRICK, Afghanistan (2002-2014) 2002-2014. Anna Redwood was commissioned as an official war artist by 7th Armoured Brigade (The Desert Rats) to commemorate their tour on the last major deployment of British forces in Afghanistan. She spent a month working closely with the soldiers deployed on tour between November and December 2014.
