Description
Officer's shoulder belt plate, Halifax (West ) Volunteer Infantry, 1803-1808. Oval copper gilt plate with engraved design. An oval garter bearing the motto, 'In Defence Of Our Country', and surmounted by a monarchial crown. Within the garter the monogrammed embellished initials, 'W H V'. The reverse is blackened and bears a single gilt hook at the top and two gilt studs at the base.
