Description
Typescript transcripts of eighteen manuscript letters written by Capt Henry Wilder Lambie Sneyd, 28th Bengal Native Infantry, 6 - 30 May 1857. The correspondence was addresses to Sneyd’s mother, and Maj Gen G W A Lloyd and sheds considerable light upon conditions and tensions in Bengal during the early stages of the mutiny. Sneyd was murdered by mutineers in June 1857. Associated with the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859).
