Photocopy of printed booklet: Letters from Lieutenant Edward Chamier ADC and Persian Interpreter to Gen Sir James Outram GCB.
Privately printed, nd.
The letters, chiefly addressed to Chamier’s father, describe his service with Outram in suppressing the Mutiny, including the siege of Lucknow. In April 1858 he was appointed Assistant Commissioner in Oudh. The letters have interesting comments on both the causes of the uprising and the action taken in quelling it.
