Parliamentarian badge commemorating Edward Montagu, 2nd Earl of Manchester and awarded to him during his command of the army, 1643. Obverse shows a right-facing high relief portrait of Edward Montagu, 2nd Earl of Manchester, with long hair and in armour. Reverse shows the Montagu coat of arms (three lozenges conjoined in fesse, surmounted by a coronet) in relief. Pierced with a small hole at the eleven o’clock position on the bust. Associated with the English Civil War (1642-1649).
