Description
Shoulder belt plate, officer, Limerick Militia, 1800 (c). Oval plate with fortified gateway surmounted by a crown, with the regimental title, ‘Limerick Regiment’, below; on the reverse, a stamp, ‘F.T.’, thought to be the maker’s mark of Francis Thurkle II, sword cutler and belt manufacturer, 1791-1801. possibly worn by a Lt J O’Brian; bears maker’s stamp ‘F.T.’ on reverse, thought to be that of Francis Thurkle II, sword cutter and belt manufacturer 1791-1801.
