Viceroy’s medal awarded to Sgt Instructor in Musketry Alderson, 11th (Prince Albert’s Own) Hussars by the Governor General Lord Elgin, 1896. Bronze with relief design within raised and beaded rim on both sides. Obverse: The conjoined portrait busts of Lord and Lady Elgin facing dexter. Reverse: The Achievement of Lord Elgin, with arms, supporters and motto. The arms are surrounded by the collar of the Order of the Star of India with the badge of the order and that of the Order of the Indian Empire pendant.
