Description
Coal fatigue at the quarters of Col A M Paterson, Commanding officer, Regimental District, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, Naas Barracks, County Kildare, Ireland, 1900 (c). Photographic print, 1900 (c) Naas Barracks was the Depot for the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and was used to provide training and accommodation for the battalions of the Regiment. By contrast to the soldiers, who would sleep over twenty to each barrack room, the commanding officer had much larger quarters, as well as soldiers allocated to assist with various duties. The barracks were subsequently re-named Devoy Barracks following the creation of the Irish Free State after 1922.
