Description
Bound transcript journal kept by Capt Robert Montagu Poore, 7 Hussars, in Rhodesia during the suppression of the Matabele uprising between 29 Jun and 13 Oct 1896. Poore engaged in a number of patrols in the vicinity of Bulawayo but had little direct contact with the enemy. Besides military and topographical details, the journal includes results of hunting expeditions made whilst on the march.
