Charles Lee Esqr. Ameranischer General-Major. Engraving, 1775 (c). Published in Germany, 1775 (c). Half length portrait to left. Set in a roundel with title inscribed on ledge below. Associated with the American War of Independence (1775-1783). Gen Lee was a British born Revolutionary general whose performance at the Battle of Monmouth, when he ordered a retreat instead of attacking, brought about his court martial and dismissal.
