Personal aide to the monarch sword, 1889 (c). Said to have been used by FM Lord Birdwood as aide-de-camp to King George V, 1917-1922, although it has the cypher of Queen Victoria on the blade and crossguard. Hill Brothers, retailer, only at the named address until 1889. Ivory mameluke hilt with brass crossguard. Slightly curved blade decorated with floral patterns and elaborate Royal cypher.
