Manuscript diary notebook kept by Sgt James Walmsley, Mounted Military Police, during service between 13 Feb 1915, when he joined the Mounted Police, in Egypt and primarily at Gallipoli, to 10 Feb 1916. The diary covers service in Cairo and Alexandria up to his arrival at Gallipoli on W Beach on 8 Jul 1915. His narrative of the campaign contains much interesting detail regarding the enforcement of discipline. Some named individuals are mentioned in conjunction with offences, as are his sometimes unusual tasks as a military policeman. The final pages contain various notes, witness statements and addresses. Associated with World War One, Gallipoli (1915-1916) and World War One, Egypt and Palestine (1914-1918).
