Manuscript book containing ‘Extracts from Lady Magdalene De Lancey’s Narrative 1815’. The account relates to Lady Magdalene’s marriage to Sir William De Lancey, accompanying him to Belgium and caring for him after he is wounded during the Battle of Waterloo. The narrative provides details of the couples arrival in Belgium; the build up to the battle; confusion and conflicting reports over De Lancey’s injury; nursing her husband; his deteriorating heath and sitting by his bedside before he dies.
