Bound typescript transcript of letters written by Lt Henry Hamer Stansfeld to members of his family between January 1857 and November 1858.
He served with the 8th Bengal Native Infantry at Dinapore until 25 July 1857 when they mutinied, thereafter being attached to the 10th Regiment of Foot.
Much of 1858 he spent in the field against the mutineers in Oudh, seeing service at the capture of Lucknow, where Stansfeld played a prominent part in the taking of the Kaiser Bagh.
