Photograph of Sgt Maj Hewson, 34th Bengal Native Infantry, the first casualty of the Indian Mutiny of 1857. He was struck by Mangal Pandy in the hand. Photographed in uniform as an old man. Associated with the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859).
