The body of the cross is formed from two cartridges, soldered together base to base; bullets project at top and bottom; the cross piece is also formed from two bullets; a figure of Christ cruified in repousse (probably cut from a commercially made crucifix) in sheet brass is soldered on to the front; the Cross stands on a base cut from a German belt buckle to which it was originally soldered but from which it is now detached; the base is circular, sheet brass with a hole punched in the centre, with the design of a German imperial crown in relief within a rope edged circlet.
