Medal commemorating surrender of Tipu Sultan’s sons to Lord Cornwallis 1792. Gilt metal. Relief design within a raised rim on both sides. Obverse: A right-facing uniformed portrait bust of Lord Cornwallis. Reverse: A depiction of Lord Cornwallis receiving the two sons of Tipu Sultan at the end of the 3rd Mysore War, the eldest of whom is holding a scroll, accompanied by another Indian. In the background left, behind Lord Cornwallis, a group of British soldiers in front a tent. In the background right, a fortress and two Indian soldiers. Associated with 3rd Mysore War (1790-1792).
