Officers’ shoulder belt plate, 3rd (Dundee Highland) Volunteer Bn, Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), 1887-1908.
Mounted upon a silver plated ground a gilt metal eight-pointed faceted star superimposed upon which, displacing four of the points, a gilt faceted cross saltire. Upon the centre of the cross a silver thistle wreath within which is a frosted silver circlet with burnished edges bearing the battalion title ‘THE DUNDEE HIGHLANDERS’. Within the circlet the gilt battalion numeral ‘3’ upon a silver frosted ground. On reverse a brass hook in each upper corner and a brass stud in each lower corner.
