Description
Officers’ plaid brooch, 1st Royal Lanark Militia, 1880 (c). Silver, possibly plaited. A burnished disc, embellished with an engraved foliate design below which an engraved scroll bearing the regimental numeral and title ‘1ST ROYAL LANARK MILITIA’. Mounted at centre within a circular wreath of thistles, the figure of St Andrew holding his cross, upon a voided ground. Reverse bears a horizontal brooch fitting.
