Nineteen medium regimental buttons, 9th Regiment of Bengal Lancers, worn by Col George Lindsay Garstin, 1901 (c). Gilt metal, bearing the following design: superimposed upon crossed lances, with pennants, the letters ‘B L’ above which is the numeral ‘9’. On the back of each button, the inscription: ‘SUPERIOR QUALITY’. As described in 1901 Indian Army Dress Regulations. According to these regulations, however, the general pattern Bengal Lancer button was worn on the tunic.
