Badge, possibly from a grenadier fur-cap, Militia Infantry, England, 1780 (c). Mounted upon a scarlet serge ground, backed with stiffened hessian and secured with ten crudely-shaped nuts, a white metal design the royal cypher ‘GR’ surmounted by a monarchial crown, all within an inverted shield-shaped border. The lower edge of the shield forms a scroll.
