China War Medal 1842, type purchased by officials at the Royal Mint for their private use, awarded by Sir George Clerk to Mr Henry William Field, Civilian.
No suspender or provision for one.

Field served as an Assayer at the Royal Mint from 1818 to 1871 and was the last to hold the title Queen’s Assay Master. He received this medal in accordance with a Mint Board Minute of 20/05/1846 that officers of the Mint could receive it provided they paid for the medal themselves.
