Officers’ helmet plate, Royal Cumberland Militia, 1878-1881. White metal. Mounted upon an eight-pointed rayed star, the topmost point of which is displaced by a monarchial crown, a laurel wreath within which is a circlet. Within the circlet, upon a black patent leather ground, a star similar to that of the Order of the Garter. Three loop fittings on reverse, two of which have been broken off.
