Officers’ shoulder belt plate, Renfrew Militia, 1869-1881.

Mounted upon a frosted gilt metal rectangular plate with a raised bright edge, a rayed and faceted star in white metal similar in shape to the Star of the Order of the Thistle. At the centre of the star, in gilt metal, a wreath of thistles surmounted by a monarchial crown and enclosing an oval circlet. Within the circlet, the white metal Prince of Wales’s plumes, coronet and motto upon a frosted gilt metal ground. Two hooks and two stud fittings upon the reverse.
