Other ranks’ shoulder belt plate, Westmeath Militia, 1800 (c). Brass. Engraved, within an oval border a seven-pointed rayed star at the centre of which is a circlet. Within the circlet superimposed upon a saltire, a shamrock bearing a crown upon each leaf (very worn). Above the star, a monarchial crown. One hook and one stud fitting upon the reverse. A second stud is missing and a hole marks its former location.
