Officers’ shoulder belt plate, Administrative Bn Argyllshire Highland Rifle Volunteers, 1874-1880. White metal, with mounted design of a star similar to the Star of the Order of the Thistle, but elongated top and bottom, at the centre of which, surrounded by a circular rope-pattern border, a boar’s head upon an heraldic wreath, superimposed upon a French horn surmounted by a monarchial crown. Two hooks and two stud fittings upon the reverse.
