Officers’ plaid brooch, 44th Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers, worn by Capt James Hutton Watkins, 1860-1874. White metal. Within an engraved foliate border, a mounted design of a curled bugle-horn below an imperial horn, both at the centre of a star similar to the star of the Order of the Thistle, the star within a wreath of thistles.
