Officers’ shoulder belt plate, 1st West India Regiment, worn by Lt George Thorne, 1850-1855. Rectangular. Upon a gilt metal burnished ground, a mounted design of a gilt metal beaded garter upon a domed white enamel ground and surmounted by a gilt metal monarchial crown. Above the crown, a frosted white metal scroll, and two further frosted white metal scrolls, one either side of garter. Reverse bears two copper hooks and two copper studs. The plate is backed with a piece of leather.
