Description
Pattern 1937 webbing haversack used by Lt J F White while serving and as a prisoner of war (POW) in the Far East, 1942-45 (c). Made by the Mills Equipment Company, 1940. Part of a collection of objects belonging to Lt John Fredrick Wright RASC, while a POW in the Far East, during the Second World War (1939-45). He was captured in Singapore on 16 February 1942. He was held in Changi prison (1942), Nong Pladuk (1942 and 1945) and Nakhon Nayok (June 1945) among other POW camps. It has numerous field repairs.
