Card-mounted group photograph showing members of No 1 Troop, No 2 Commando, taken at Lockerbie, Scotland, August 1941. They pose for the image in four rows wearing battledress and Tam O' Shanter hats. There is a building behind them. For some reason one of the men has been cut out of the image. An inscription at the bottom reads: ‘To Lt Col A C Newman, with the compliments of the Officers, NCOs and Men of No 1 Troop. Lockerbie, August 1941’. After the redesignation of the original 2 Commando into the 11th Special Air Service, a new 2 Commando unit was formed, commanded by Lt Col Augustus Charles Newman. This group are most likely some of the new recruits. From a collection of seven card-mounted photographs showing images of No 2 S.S. Commando, 1941-1942 (c). All group images including different Troops and sports teams, taken most likely in Scotland.
