Pattern 1788, Light Cavalry Officer, 16th (Queen’s) Light Dragoons, 1790 (c); blade is moderately curved, with one narrow fuller near back and one broader fuller and is engraved with the regimental title, the maker’s name, J J Runkel, and a crude representation of a cavalry officer; blade is imported, French style known as ‘à la Montmorency’; the guard is a straight knucklebow, in steel with double langets; steel hilt mounts; wooden grip, covered in leather.
