Drum major’s Staff, used by the 23rd Madras Regiment, 1900 (c) Inverted pear shaped silver plated head with repousse decoration: monarchial crown finial upon rounded baluster with four broad gadroons and floral cartouches, the front one bearing a device consisting of a crowned stringed bugle horn around the numeral 23 within a garter inscribed with battle honours; plain staff socket with beaded border and plain silver collar below head inscribed with presentation inscription; varnished cane with silver plated ferrule; one chain.
