Ration biscuit, 1902; square hard biscuit, perforated with 49 holes; one side bearing two George V one penny stamps and a manuscript address, Mrs-, 109 Park Road, Hillingborough, Kent, England, and on the other side the message, ‘The War is ended No more Biscuits required, Young Sam.’; sent home from South Africa at the end of the Boer War by Trumpter S Foster, 12th (Prince of Wales’s Royal) Lancers.
