Brass shaving jug, 1855 (c). Pear shaped with a flared rim and large spout, the base is flattened and the handle is roughly worked; the inside of jug is tinned; reputedly used as a shaving jug by a Russian officer during the Crimean War (1854-1856) and then brought from Sevastopol by Gen Sir John Henry Lefroy.
