Study for the capture of the French Eagle at the Battle of Barossa by the 87th (The Prince of Wales's Irish) Regiment of Foot, 1811. Pencil drawing attributed to Denis Dighton, 1821 (c). Depicts two French soldiers trying to fight off a British infantryman at close quarters, while more British soldiers rush up to help him, 1811. Associated with the Peninsular War (1808-1814).
