Description
Ship’s control wheel, 1915. Eight spoked brass wheel from the engine room of the ship the SS River Clyde which transported the Royal Munster Fusiliers to Gallipoli; presented, with a mast head lamp to the 1st Bn Royal Munster Fusiliers by Vice Admiral Sir John de Robeck in memory of the landing of the 29th Division at Sedd el Bahr, April 1915. de Robeck commanded the Allied naval force in the Dardanelles campaign. Associated with the Helles Front, World War One, Gallipoli (1915-1916).
