Description

Knee hole travelling desk manufactured by Ross and Co., Dublin, 1875 (c); rosewood with its original gold embossed leather top; a single central drawer is above the knee hole compartment and has two handles, the other drawers are either side, all have brass locks and handles; and detachable legs, which are simply carved and on castors; the desk travels in a chest. This is almost identical to known examples made by Ross and Co. but is missing its maker’s plaque inside the central drawer. It is certainly of the appropriate quality for their work.
