Description
Pattern 1796 Light Cavalry officer’s sword. Carried by Capt Robert Shaw, Rathfarnham Light Dragoons, Dublin, who was commissioned Captain in 1803. The regiment was disbanded in 1807. Blade is of the usual design for this pattern; stirrup guard with shield shaped languets, which is typical in this pattern.
