Pattern 1892 Infantry Officer’s sword, 1892-1897; blade of dumbbell section with engraved decoration, including the cypher of Queen Victoria, royal coat of arms, the Prince of Wales’ feathers and the maker’s name, Henry Wilkinson; plated guard, inset with the Victorian cypher; leather sword strap and acorn; identified as Pattern 1892 because the later Pattern 1897 has a lapped inner edge on the guard; associated with Lt Col Francis, Royal Engineers.
