Verney reminisces about his father, Gen Sir Harry Calvert, Adjutant General 1799-1820, and mentions that his father was more responsibe for founding the Duke of York's Military School than the Duke himself and also played an important part in the foundation of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, as well being responsible for the attachemnt of chaplains to each regiment.
