27th Light Cavalry, British Officer, 26th King George’s Own Light Cavalry, Daffadar, Madrasi Musalman of the Carnatic, 1908 (c). Watercolour by Major Alfred Crowdy Lovett (1862-1919), 1908 (c). The original for the illustration opposite p52 of Major G F MacMunn’s 'Armies of India', published in 1911. Mounted daffadar with lance looking down at dismounted officer holding a paper in his gloved right hand.
