Officers’ shoulder belt plate, 1st Royal Lanark Militia, 1855-1880. White metal. Mounted upon a burnished rectangular plate, a design of a star similar to that of the Order of the Thistle, at whose centre is a frosted garter with rope pattern borders surmounted by a monarchial crown and enclosing a spray of three thistle flowers upon a burnished ground, with a frosted scroll with rope pattern borders below the star. Reverse bears two hook fittings at top and two studs at base.
