Description
Officers’ shoulder belt plate, York City Local Militia, 1808-1814. Mounted on a burnished gilt copper plate, a white metal design of a frosted oval circlet enclosing a five petalled rose with a similar smaller rose at its centre, with a foliate design at the circlet’s base and a lion’s head at the circlet’s top. Reverse bears two gilt hooks at top and two gilt studs at base.
