Badge commemorating the service of the Falkland Islands Volunteer Corps in the defence of the Islands in 1914 awarded to Pte R Montgomery 1926. Silver with horizontal brooch fitting. Obverse: A shield bearing the Arms of the Falkland Islands as officially granted in 1925, surrounded on three sides and partly superimposed upon an azure band whose two ends are extended to form twin plaits joined at the centre base of the shield with a toggle. Reverse: Relief inscription, with twin sprays of laurel at base, hallmarks for Birmingham 1926-1927 on sinister lower edge and maker’s mark on dexter lower edge. Associated with Battle of the Falklands (1914), World War One, War at Sea (1914-1918).
