NAM.1968-04-7-1

One of twenty two coloured lithographs by Madeley after Lt Frederick P Layard, 19th Regiment Bengal Native Infantry, published by Ackermann, London, 1843 (c). Title Page. The 22 lithographs form a continuous panorama entitled ‘Line of March of a Bengal Infantry in Scinde’. The panorama shows a peacetime march, where conditions of comfort take precedence over tactical considerations. It is taken from a series which depicts the immense crowd of camp followers and regimental transport.
