Description

Photograph showing a group of 37 officers in uniform, posing for the photo outside the front of a building in Hythe, Kent, 1895-1900 (c). It is probably the School of Musketry. There is one Grenadier Guards officer sitting in the front row, second from the right, wearing a peaked forage cap. Most of the men appear to be from a mixture of regiments, mostly wearing sidecaps but some wearing pillbox caps. From an album of 77 photographs (including some archives and postcards) relating to the Grenadier Guards, 1894-1909 (c). Includes training at Frensham Camp, boxing matches, orders for King Edward VII’s Coronation and images from Staff College 1909, including a trip to the Franco-Prussian War battlefields in France.
