Description
Presentation sword and scabbard, 1865. Sword inscribed, ‘Presented by Captain Towgood to Serjeant Smith, H, Rowley of the Duke of Manchesters Light Horse Volunteers, D Troop, for proficiency in sword exercise. July 4th 1865’. Three bar hilt, fish skin grip, decorative pommel; straight single edged blade with etched floral decoration and inscribed dedication, VR cypher; steel scabbard with two suspension rings and bands decorated with leaves and acorns.
