Mk22 mod 4 rocket and attached wire, for Mine Clearing Line Charge (MiCLiC) System, 2017 (c). This rocket was fired during a course run by Combat Engineers from 5 Armoured Engineers Squadron, 22 Engineer Regiment, to train soldiers from the Iraqi 9th Division, in August 2017; Operation SHADER, Iraq, Islamic State Operations (2014-). The Mk22 Mod 4 Rocket is used to propel the M58A3 Linear Demolition Charge and the M68A1 Practice (inert) Linear Demolition Charge of the Mine Clearing Line Charge (MiCLiC) System. MiCLiC is an American rocket-projected explosive line charge, used to clear enemy mines/IEDs. The MiCLiC system utilises a 5 in rocket, like this one, fired from a 2 1⁄2 tonne trailer to propel an 800kg C4 explosive line charge to clear a 100m long by 14m wide safe area. It has been used to great effect during the Iraqi Security Forces’ fight against the Islamic State Forces (Isis, Isil, Da’esh), facilitating manoeuvre and counteracting the canalising effect of vast IED belts. The theory and practical utilisation of MiCLiC was taught to Iraqi Security Forces by the UK Mobility Support Training Team in Besmaya and Taji, Iraq. From a collection of objects associated with the deployment of 2 Mercian Battle Group on Operation SHADER 5, June - December 2017.
